Hey there! Looks like I can't ever do this on a regular basis but it's not like anyone cares, am I right? So here's the review of another book, spoiler alert, I didn't really like it.
Hey there!
I bought this book a year ago approximately, I don't remember when or why but I think it was probably posted somewhere as book of the week, bestseller or something like that. I read the synopsis and I bought it, the e-book version since I think that one was pretty cheap, and I'm glad to say that i didn't spend a lot of money on it otherwise I would probably be pissed.
As I said I'm not really sure why I bought it, it's a mix of The Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons, The 6th Day and the comic book Punk Rock Jesus. More spoilers ahead but don't worry, the book isn't worth it.

What I like about this book:
There's not much to write here. I'm usually very critical about books but usually I like something about it. I'm not really sure I do about this one. I didn't dislike the theme but it's been done already lots of times and so much better so it's not my cup of tea. Let's say that it had all the ingredients to be a good book and is failed big time.
What I dislike about this book:
- How's written:
This book seems like it was written by someone very amateur, uses the typical formulas, describes with a lot of detail unnecessary things to somehow make the book longer, I'm guessing. It almost seems a bit childish or wrote towards a younger audience than it should be, it has very ingenuous moments.
Some characters are depicted in a way that lack credibility, the main character is too beautiful (not in a Spanish way, which is also weird), there are some other characters that are so ingenuous that almost seem stupid.
- Aged:
I'll explain this one in case someone who's not from Spain is reading this (very unlikely but still possible). Sometimes it seems like it was written in the 90s, and not in a good way. The main character and some of the other less important characters have some likings that are not very populars nowadays, like smoking inside coffee shops, being fan of bullfighting, some political views. So let's say that this book seems like it was written by someone who's political ideology transpired throughout the book and I'm going to be honest, although I'm mostly apolitical, I'm not very sympathetic to this ideology. The way most of the characters are described seemed to feet perfectly the stereotypical personification of the kind of person with that ideology.
Despite being easy to spot this kind of person in real like it's not realistic at all, or at least for the average citizen. Everybody has lots of money, they're all very talented, very pretty, very attractive and the most intelligent of all times (yet they seem stupid most of the time).
- Too many characters:
It's not that it has too many characters per se, it's more like it has too many irrelevant-for-the-plot characters and you end up with a bunch of names and surnames that if you're a bit clueless you end up not knowing what's going on and who's doing what.
- Loose ends:
You don't find out until the very end what really happens, not that it's something surprising or anything, it's quite predictable what's going to happen throughout the book. Of course the female main character marries not his wonderful boyfriend who's afraid of commitment but it's a marvelous guy anyway but the head of the Swiss guard who's even more wonderful than the other guy. You see coming the clone thingy from the very beginning, even more if you had already read Punk Rock Jesus, which I recommend, it's quite cool. There's one murder that has no consequences whatsoever for the perpetrator, mostly the opposite and that's mind blowing for a better word. They try to explain everything in a rush at the epilogue and it's a nonsense.
I could keep complaining about little details that make the book seem pretty stupid but I don't think it's needed.

* * *
To sum it up, it disappointed me, don't waste your time reading it because the good parts don't compensate for the bad ones.
