[MOVIES] Movies of the week 06.

More movies, no spoilers on the description on the movie but there might be some on my personal opinion.

Perfect creature (2006)

In a world where humans and vampires coexists, the 'brothers' as they're called, are in charge of the scientific investigations but when one of those experiments looking for the perfect creature goes wrong one of them starts to turn into a killer and spread his illness to humans.

I would say it's a 'Meh' movie, nothing too special about the movie, although I like that the vampires are something like fathers, it's like a religion, I think that's original. The whole kinda dystopian, post apocalyptic,  modern victorian age society it's pretty cool. But I find that the title is kinda stupid if it only refers to the end of the movie.

Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994)

Based on the novel by Mary Shelley. Doctor Frankenstein, obsessed with death, invests all his life to the creation of a human made from pieces of death bodies, trying to achieve perfection and creating live, but he pays a bigger price than he ever imagined.

It's a good movie, I have the novel but I haven't had time to read it yet, as the other 200 or so books I have on, I'm a book hoarder, can't help it, but I'm pretty sure it's a good depiction of the movie.
I love Robert De Niro's monster and the bond he creates with his creator, a love/hate weird relationship like a rebellious kid and a strict father that love each other but hate them at the same time.

The assassination bureau (1969)

The assassination bureau is a business that had been going on for ages, one day, a woman contracts the services of the agency to kill a man, the chairman of the organisation. Because of their rules he has to accept, therefore, the rest of the organisation has to kill him before he kills them.

I loved this movie, I think it's funny, it's creative, it has action. It's a must watch, I'm not even going to say anything else, just go and watch it.

Vamperifica (2011)

An ancient vampire dies and his two disciples wait for him to reincarnate. He comes back in the form of Carmen, a gay young man that's very unusual.

If you want a great movie with an awesome plot and deep meaning, this is not the movie to watch. This is just a gay vampire funny movie to probably watch with a bunch of friends when you're a teenager (or an adult, who gives a fuck?) and eat shitty food, have some laugh and at the end talk about how the movie was a piece of shit but you had fun.

10 Cloverfield Lane (2016)

A woman wakes up from a car accident inside a bunker room, chained to the wall. Later she discovers that she was rescued by a man while some kind of nuclear catastrophe happened on the outside.

I don't know what to think about this movie, I don't know if I like it, if I hate it or what. I think it looks like J. J. Abrams wanted to put everything in the same movie and I had to read online what the director meant with the ending and actually the whole movie, if you have to explain it to make sense I'm not sure it's a good movie.

Dune (1984)

The spice is the most valuable substance in the universe. Arrakis (aka Dune) is the only source for the spice and it becomes a point of conflict for different forces that want to control the production of this valuable substance.

It's a good mix of 80s, space technology and magic, I think it was a bit too long but regardless it's a good movie. It was a bit confusing with all the weird names, I'm horrible for names, but that wasn't a big thing. At the beginning I thought the whole aesthetic was going to be more similar to Stargate but I still think it's pretty cool. The plot is okay, it reminds me of other movies/books but at that time I'm sure it was pretty creative.

A fistful of dollars (1964)

In the town of San Miguel two families fight for the control of the town. When a stranger arrives he starts to mess with both families, being the ally and enemy of both of them.

I grew up with western and spaghetti western movies so I actually like them a lot. This movie is pretty cool, not a very complicated plot, pretty easy to understand and still cool, also, here is where the famous scene that Marty McFly recreates on Back to the future III appears.

John Carter (2012)

The nephew of John Carter, an American Civil War Confederate Army captain, receives a telegram from his uncle. Once he arrives he finds out he died and bequeaths him all his properties and his diary where he explains his adventures in Mars, where he had to fight to save the lives of the people he loves.

Not a bad movie, I didn't want to watch this movie when it first came out because I wasn't sure I was going to like it but I have to admit it's good, not extremely awesome but entertaining.

The last man on earth (1964)

An unknown disease spreads around the world and the only man surviving is Dr. Robert Morgan who fights every day against the people that rose from their death.

I already watched other two movies with the same plot although they're a bit different. Not a lot to say about this one, a classic movie that you must watch, the ending it's a bit different and I think it changes the whole meaning of the movie from the other more modern ones.

The boy (2016)

A woman that's running away from his abusive boyfriends is hired by an old married couple to take care of his only child. When she discovers the kid is actually a doll and that she has to follow certain rules, strange things happen around her.

Not bad, not that great either, not scary at all although the doll is a bit creepy. The ending is not surprising enough to be shocking, it's actually predictable but at least it's a bit different from the other 'possessed doll' movies. If you don't watch it you're not missing anything great.

Knock knock (2015)

A family man with two kids, a successful and beautiful wife and a good job remains at home to work when two young women appear at his front door on a rainy night. They end up having sex and the next day, feeling guilty and regretful, he makes the girls leave but they will come back for a surprise.

I'm going straight to the point for this one. I didn't like it, I think the punishment is excessive in comparison with the crime. Nope, I'm with Keanu Reeves in this one, sorry girls, but this one is a Hard Candy wannabe but misses the real point, the other guy was a criminal, this one is just a weak man that doesn't deserve all the shit those two did to him. [SPOILER] And even if they weren't going to kill him, they still killed the guy that came to get the statue, so... nope, it doesn't make sense.

Jonah Hex (2010)

Jonah Hex is contacted by the US Military to stop Quentin Turnbull, one of the biggest criminals on history. They both share a common past that would make the fight something personal.

This one is a good movie, probably could have been better and I'm sure fans of the comics have a lot to complain about but I didn't read this one, although I'm thinking about it because I like the idea.
It has some west and technology, maybe you could say steampunk or something similar, not too sure I would use that category to describe it but still, not bad in therms of aesthetics.

I'm really late this week but it had been crazy, I don't even remember which week is this from but I'm fucking late.
My favourite movie of this week is The assassination bureau, hands down, really cool movie, funny, with some action, you must watch it.
